We provide
Photography in both caves, transport to the caves from our office at 334 Boddies Road, Your guide will be able to recommend the best places to setup, and assist if necessary.
Please bring
You must have a tripod and a camera, with equipment suitable to use in low light.
(We have a tripod head in the cave, with a 37.5 X 60mm Swiss mounting plate which can be borrowed from us).
You also need to be familiar with the functions of your particular camera to achieve this - A typical Glowworm shot would be 30 seconds f4, Iso 6400, depending how much extra reflections you like in your picture.
A wide angle, say 35 mm is best, a telephoto will give options of a close up shot on a sloping ceiling.
Better quality sensors and lenses will give better results
You must bring spare batteries and memory cards as there is nothing available at the site.
You also must feel confident manual focusing your camera in very low light conditions. Some cameras with digital display can prove difficult.
Using the live view X5 setting and a flashlight with a spot beam on the cave wall is a good focus method.
Newer live view screens are alot better than old ones
The stabilizer should be off, and the self timer on to avoid bumping the camera when the shutter is pushed.
A warm top, comfortable walking shoes a drink bottle and a snack if you would like one.
